1. Bled – the most beautiful lakeside town

Bled is the face of Slovenian tourism and one of those places that look like a postcard. Set by a turquoise lake with a cliffside castle and a church on an island, it captivates in every season. You can walk around the lake, row to the island, or try the famous cream cake called blejska kremšnita. The town is known for its mild microclimate, which attracted artists and health seekers for years. Elegant Austro-Hungarian villas still line the promenade. Nearby, you’ll find scenic hiking trails and incredible viewpoints.

2. The Church on the Island – a symbol of wishes

In the middle of Lake Bled stands a 13th-century church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. To reach it, you must take a traditional wooden boat called pletna – a unique experience in itself. Inside the church, there’s a wishing bell that, according to legend, grants heartfelt desires. It was built on a site once dedicated to the Slavic goddess of love, Živa. Legend says a widow tried to cast a bell in memory of her husband, but it sank – and to this day, its sound echoes from the lake’s depths. Don’t miss the panoramic view from the bell tower. The ticket also includes entry to the small museum.

The upper waterfall is 16 meters high, while the lower one impresses with a 52-meter drop. It’s formed by the Peričnik stream, a tributary of the Triglavska Bistrica.
