1. Pin It to Your Map – The Chalk Mine in Mielnik

Mielnik is home to an extraordinary treasure – the only active chalk mine in Poland. Until the mid-20th century, chalk was extracted here manually. It’s worth visiting to witness the breathtaking landscape of white excavations. This is a perfect spot for geology lovers and enthusiasts of unique natural formations, often referred to as the “big white hole in the ground.” The mine also offers a viewing point where you can admire the expansive chalk pits and the Bug River valley.

6. Jewish Roots – Great Synagogue in Tykocin

The synagogue in Tykocin is connected to a legend. It tells of a rabbi who placed amulets with prayers in the chandelier to protect the Jewish people from misfortune. Some time later, during a solemn prayer, the enormous chandelier fell. The synagogue was crowded, but – perhaps thanks to the amulets – the chandelier landed without harming anyone… Today, this monumental building serves as a museum.
